My intent is to present a program proposal, do it in a way that makes its it easy to audit and comment on.
This proposal is for an on air test period or the time frame beginning now (with permission) and ending after the Summer program schedule. Should it appear that this is a working arrangement for all parties, and listener response is favorable we will agree to continue (or modify and continue)
For now this proposal is no longer private, feel free to share this.
Any comments or suggestions you have are really appreciated please add them in the comment section.
One more “preamble” to this proposal. Recently my on air performance was critiqued by Jim Healy, this critique was e-mailed to the Board of Directors before Jim discussed anything with me. A similar scolding was made a year ago at Thanksgiving, I was never given the opportunity to explain or clarify my programming decisions. I ask that you now listen to the “mistake” that inspired Jim to write to you his critique of my performance, and decide if it was fitting for our all volunteer broadcast crew. This is my on air time Monday, I did not get it all recorded, and the music has been removed , I put the bloopers first:
Please listen to 1/2 of it at least to get a sense of my “on air” presence that morning.
I am proposing shifting my volunteer energy from the production of a weekly podcast (now finishing up the second season.) to filling a more specific live role in our community radio.
I am proposing being in studio Monday mornings between 8:00 and 10:00 A.M. Doing weather, station announcements, calendar of upcoming events, music and (my focus) environmental and sustainability news. The emphasis would be on having fun, defining or redefining Monday, creating a proactive antidote to the “morning news” I would also like permission to air short (20 to 25 minute) interviews, live or pre recorded with the focus sustainability, community, and environment – These interviews will be evergreen and will also be used on my podcast Thinking Outside of the Box.
(Currently this is Otto’s mix with the exception of special interviews – to my knowledge that slot has been used for live interviews less than ten times in the past) My show may be superseded by more time sensitive interviews should they present themselves. I had also suggested to Jim that I could do interviews on Mondays if they want me to.
Should it be decided to expand the “Morning Show” why not fill Wednesday and Friday first?

I highly recommend listening to the full version above, it portrays the “Monday Morning Mood” I am seeking to create. If you really do not have time for this, below is a version with the music and the interview stripped out.
I would like to (on a trial basis) own this slot and play with different names for this hour or two of live radio.)
Karen Lamphear was going to co-host with me but she decided her schedule would not work on an ongoing basis. I would like to have her and other KRFY broadcasters join me at their convenience to talk about community events, and invite listener participation. (input, suggestion, phone and e-mail – not live phone calls) and in general promote local media, local artists and non profit organizations.
Right now I have interviews recorded on the Clark Fork River Delta Project, a student project at Clark Fork Junior Senior high school, a Northwest permaculturist on Earth Repair and an interview with the owner of a wilderness school about the advantages (necessity actually) of connecting with nature.
I have many other non-event centered, and non-commercial topics I would like to cover. Some weeks there may be no interviews, and as I’ve said some weeks the Morning Show could preclude what I have going on.
I hope that you find this proposal in line with KRFY’s mission statement and future programming goals.
